This mod is best played on high resolutions. There may also be a large second release which adds multi-player and instant-action capabilities. There will be patches released in the future to fix as many bugs as possible. There are imperfections and glitches which are yet to be ironed out. With this mod, I have done my best to create a game that could at the very least imitate a possible Battlezone 3. Fully UV-Mapped and highly textured models (unlike the original QF Mod). This mod is a total-conversion, so effectively a BRAND NEW game!! No visible content from the original game or any other mod (not even QF Mod) is included.
Some explanations to some of the darkest secrets of the Battlezone universe. A Deep, Intriguing and Engaging storyline. High Quality 3D models and Environments, far in excess of the original limitations and scope of the BZ2 engine. Three brand new, fully fledged playable races, plus other NPC only races. My goal has been to AVOID a 'glorified IA' campaign where you simply have to destroy the enemy base each mission. I know that people get sick of RTS campaigns quickly if they are repetitive. There is less emphasis on Base VS Base combat and more on story and character development. A lengthy, STORY DRIVEN single player campaign. There are a fair few audio-matic cut-scenes which explain the story. I have blended many of my favourite elements from BZ1 and BZ2, plus introduced a number of my own. This is my personal attempt to create a 'Battlezone 3' worthy game. There are various works in progress to make such MODs work, and they may be complete by the time you read this.A total-conversion fan-sequel for Battlezone II: Combat Commander with high definition graphics, new physics and tonnes of new and unprecedented features. MODs that replaced out large chunks of the BZ2 shell (aka Forgotten Enemies) may need extensive tweaks before they can work with 1.3.
Some broken MODs that installed themselves into the Data folder (which should *never* have happened, but some people refused to do things right and install to addon) may have to be manually deleted. Many MODs for BZ2 will be uninstalled as part of the install of 1.3. Missions created with the editor in 1.3 will not be readable in previous versions, same with savegames, etc. But, as noted above, progress in SP missions is left untouched. Mid-mission savegames from BZ2 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3pb1-pb4 can not be read, as the file formats changed too much. Those new preferences files can not be read by 1.2. 1.3 uses a new file format for pilots/prefs, and upgrades 1.2's files on reading them. Progress in Singleplayer missions, preferences should be read fine where more options than 1.2 exist (especially the sound setup), users may need to adjust those new options if they don't like the defaults. However, any map/dll that depends on certain behavior in the AI, etc for scripting may need tweaking. Maps & DLLs for BZ2 1.2 should load fine.
Like all other BZ2 patches, the 1.3 patch is not network compatible with any other version- all players in the game must be running the exact same version (i.e. Some notes on compatibility w/ previous versions:
